Applicants must have a strong, demonstrated commitment to reproductive freedom and family planning services, coupled with a strong interest in government and legislative affairs. Familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is necessary, PowerPoint is a plus. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks and others as assigned for the duration of the internship:
Research state legislators and create individual profiles of target members.
Spearhead the completion of district analysis for the Pennsylvania legislature.
Create electronic archive of all legislative files, information and research.
Update profiles and research on Planned Parenthood affiliates in Pennsylvania.
Complete issue research pertaining to pending or enacted legislation, as well as candidates and potential funding sources.
Develop and draft content for the state office website and assist in viral marketing efforts to increase website traffic and visibility.
Assist in development of a state office volunteer program.
Maintain state office MySpace page.
Conduct research on population trends and other related information in targeted political districts and regions of the state.
Develop, maintain and produce of materials for legislator education where necessary.
Maintain up to date contact information for all members of the PA General Assembly.
Assist in event planning.
Assist in executing issue campaigns.
Assist in coordination and implementation of grassroots organizing efforts.
Compose correspondence, office materials, meeting materials and press releases.
Assist staff with implementation of long-range goals and state-wide efforts.
Assist the office staff with day to day operations as appropriate.
