Organizations to Hold a “Protest Canvass” During Trump’s Erie Visit on Wednesday

Event organized by Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Votes, Erie County United, and Keystone Progress Erie

Erie, PA (October 10, 2018) – During President Trump’s visit to Erie today, three local organizations are turning their volunteers’ anger into action.

Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Votes, Erie County United, and Keystone Progress Erie will rally supporters to knock on their neighbors’ doors and talk about the importance of the upcoming midterm elections on November 6.

“We are rallying volunteers during Trump’s visit, because we are disgusted by his recent attacks on women, sexual assault survivors, and by the Senate’s vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh,” said Sari Stevens, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Votes. “So many people want change in our politics. The best thing we can do for Pennsylvanians is to talk with them one-on-one about what issues matter to them, about who the candidates are in the upcoming midterms, and where the candidates stand on those issues.”

The three organizations are expecting more than 75 volunteers to knock on approximately 3,000 doors during the President’s visit.

“The people of Erie have been rising up against this administration and our supposed representative for years now, and as we get closer to the election, talking with our neighbors about getting out to vote becomes even more critical,” said Alayna Gallagher, Chapter President, Keystone Progress Erie. “People are angry and upset at the direction the country has taken and about how divisive politics has become. We want them to know they can do something about it: vote.:

About Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Votes

Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Votes (PPPV) is a political action committee affiliated with Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates, the statewide advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania.
