All Candidates Pro-Women’s Health in Pittsburgh City Council Special Election

Posted on March 5, 2018

In late December, Councilman Dan Gilman announced his departure from his East End City Council seat to become Mayor Peduto’s new chief of staff. District 8 covers Oakland, Point Breeze, Shadyside and Squirrel Hill. Immediately there was interest over who would take on the seat. After a crowded democratic primary, there is now one democrat, one republican, and two independent candidates vying for the seat.

All four candidates received questionnaires from Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates & PAC to gauge their views on a host of issues from access to family planning services, sex education, and safe, legal abortion. Because of the overwhelming positive responses from all four candidates, PPPA & PAC will not be endorsing one candidate over the other.

We are excited to announce that regardless of who folks cast their vote for on March 6th, they will be voting for an ardent supporter of reproductive health and access.

Below is a list of the candidates and links to their campaign websites where you can learn more about where they stand on other issues.
